Lent 2021

February heralds the beginning of lent, my favourite time in the church calendar. And yet sadly one for which our preparation, reflections and celebrations will still be, I’m sure, affected by COVID. We will of course continue to offer services on line and the church will, as long as we are allowed to, remain open. Sadly the expectation of any high numbers gathering is extremely low but understandable. Obviously we will monitor things and if we can’t do services in church we will move even more things online.
As best I can I will be observing services on Ash Wednesday (evening), Maunday Thursday (evening) Good Friday (daytime reflection) , Easter Saturday (evening) and of course Easter Sunday morning.
My daily prayers will obviously reflect the season of Lent and for those who would like too I’m going to revisit an old Lent friend, ‘the 40 acts of kindness challenge’. This will involve a daily reflection and the chance, (where safe and practical), to participate in one of three daily challenges set each morning. There will be an easy challenge, a medium challenge and for those who like to push themselves something a bit trickier. You Decide which one is for you each day and you can mix them up. It’s good fun and hopefully something that makes us feel we are walking that Lent Road.
This will begin on the first day of Lent and so please email mail me before hand if you wish to take part, and I will email each day of lent with notes and the challenge. I will post each day on our Social media pages.
